Download Audacity
Step 1
- Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
- Select the correct link for your operating system.
- Click the link for the Audacity installer.
- Install the Audacity Application.

Step 2
- Once you have downloaded and installed Audacity, click on the link to the LAME MP3 encoder.
- Follow the link to the LAME download page

- Click on any of the lame-3.96.1 links to download.
- Open the file you downloaded, lame-3.96.1.zip.
- Take the lame_enc.dll file and extract it to the directory where you installed Audacity. This is probably C:\Program Files\Audacity or similar.
Step 3
- Open Audacity and go to File > Preferences.
- Go to the File Formats tab.
- Click MP3 Export Setup > Find Library.
- This will ask you if you want to locate the lame encoder. Click Yes.
- In the dialogue box, go to the folder where you put the lame_enc.dll file earlier and select it.
- Click Open.
- Click OK.
- Set the MP3 export quality by changing the Bit Rate to 192.

Step 4
- Select Quality tab.
- Set Default Sample Rate to 22050 Hz.
- Set Default Sample Format to 16-bit.
- Click OK.

Step 5
- You should now be able to export files to the mp3 format by selecting File > Export As MP3.
