Procedures
- Server Maintenance is performed on all Friday's from 5:30pm - 6:00pm
- and on occasion extended further. Instructors are asked not to make
assignments due on Friday's after 5pm. The server will be unavailable if
updates are being applied.
- In accordance with University of Idaho Records
Management policies, Blackboard course backups are archived at the end
of each term and retained centrally for one year minimum to facilitate
student grade challenges and incompletes.
- Instructors are asked to archive course data and
Reset Courses at
the end of each term. Courses MUST be
reset before they can be reused next semester.
- CTI will reset all spring and fall semester-based Blackboard courses
each summer to remove older student data and conserve database space.
- Courses on the server that
have not had measurable activity for one year may
be removed from the server. In the event a course is removed in error,
CTI will promptly restore it upon your request, if the request is made
within a year of course removal.
- Instructor can create internal
Section Backups.
Backups should be downloaded immediately to your local computer as a .bak
file. Internal Backups are deleted from the server monthly to conserve
database space.
- Designers with courses over 300 MB will be contacted
by CTI and offered assistance in making the
course smaller (compressing PDFs, PowerPoints, etc.).
