Setup Your Browser Environment
Ensure Blackboard will work correctly for you.
  1. Check your Browser's compatibility with Blackboard
  2. Enable Java, JavaScript, & Cookies
  3. Disable Pop-up Blockers
    Discussion tool not working correctly? Trouble taking a quiz?
  4. Accept the Security Certificate
MAC USERS
For Macintosh access, upgrade to Safari 4.0.3+ or use Mozilla Firefox. Blackboard's browser checker does not correctly confirm the Java install on machines running Snow Leopard. This error can be ignored most of the time. If you encounter issues that cannot be ignored, try turning off Java's cache.

Check your Browser's compatibility with Blackboard

  • Go to Blackboard www.blackboard.uidaho.edu
  • You must click Yes or Always to accept the Security Certificate if it appears
  • Run Blackboard's Browser Checker by clicking on the Browser Checker button located on the right side of the Blackboard login screen.

Green Check If you see all Green Checks:
  1. Setup Internet Explorer (IE) (Optional)
  2. Login to Blackboard
Red x If you see a Red X Error:
  1. Visit Blackboard Browser Support
  2. Select your Operating System
  3. Select your Web Browser
  4. Verify your Web Browser is supported.

  5. Prepare your Browser Settings
    • Enable Java
    • Enable JavaScript
    • Enable Cookies
    • Disable Pop-Up Blockers
