Track Student for a Specific Activity

TOP

Instructors have the ability to track student activity within all of the Blackboard tools. This helps identify someone who may be falling behind, or can help explain a confusion a student may have about their experience in Blackboard.

The example below shows how you can identify a missing quiz submission for student Joe Vandal. In this case, Joe started Quiz 2, but never pressed the finish button, and thus it was not submitted for grading.

  • Under the Teach Tab, click on Tracking
  • Select Student Tracking for the Tracking Report Type
  • Set the desired Date Range
  • Click Run Report

  • Click on the Student's name you wish to track.

  • Scroll to the right of the screen until you get to the appropriate section you wish to track (e.g. Assessments or Assignments)

  • The example presented here shows a student, Joe Vandal, who started 10 Assessments/Quizzes in the specified date range (total of 10 shown under the Begin Assessments column). It also shows that he completed 9 Assessments/Quizzes in the same date range (total of 9 shown under the Finished Assessments column). Thus, he did not press the Finish button for one of the quizzes that he started.
  • To see the detailed logs of Joe Vandal's assessment activity, click on the total number shown at the bottom of the Assessments area for the Began column and for the Finished column, as shown below.

  • This will present you with detailed information for each quiz Joe Vandal took. Notice he did not finish Quiz 2
  • See Grading Assessments for additional information on overriding an existing assessment grade.
