Sort Students by Name

Overview To sort information displayed in Blackboard by ascending order of a column, click on the title of that column. This action will sort all of the information displayed based on your selected column. The sequence in which the First and Last name appear determines whether the data will be sorted by first name or last name. The default sequence is last name, first name. You may change the order manually to display first name and then last name and this will force the column to sort by first name.

Click on the title of a column to sort the information by that column. Not all columns can be used in sorting. Columns with a hyperlink (indicated by the underline) can be used to sort. For example, the Name and Grade columns in the screen shot below can be selected for sorting, but the Attempt column can not. TIP: If you do not see the student you are looking for, it may be displayed on the next page. At the bottom of the window, you will find Next Page and Previous Page icons you can use to navigate through the list of students.

To change the order in which your students' first and last names are displayed: Go to Manage Course Then click on Settings Under Administration, select International Next to Name format, use the pulldown menu to select the format you want to use Press Save Values
