Overview

Blackboard is Web-based software used by instructors to build and manage their online instruction Web sites. You must provide a Username and Password to gain access to your Blackboard sites. The Blackboard Username and Password are the same as your UI Novell/AD account.

Please refer to the Scheduled Outages listed on the right to be sure Blackboard is available.

Password Expiration

UI account passwords expire every 90 days and, thus, must be reset frequently. Please keep this in mind if you experience problems logging into Blackboard. You may reset your password at any time.

Student Email Policy

Students are required to have a name@vandals.uidaho.edu email address prior to receiving a Blackboard account. Please see the Student Email Policy for additional information and help on setting up a student email account.

Log In to Blackboard

  • Go to the following Internet link with a Web browser: www.blackboard.uidaho.edu
  • Enter your Blackboard Username and Password
  • Click OK
     
Q What is my Username?
A The Blackboard username is the same as your University of Idaho Novell/AD Computer Lab usernames (ex: Joe Vandal's username would be "vand1234"). If you don't know your username, please contact the ITS Help Desk at (208) 885-HELP or helpdesk@uidaho.edu.

NOTE: Students are required to have a name@vandals.uidaho.edu email address PRIOR to receiving a Blackboard account. Please see the Student Email Policy for additional information and help on setting up a student email account.

Q What is my Password?
A Your password is the same as your Novell/AD password. If you don't know what that is, go to http://support.uidaho.edu and reset the Novell/AD/Blackboard account password, or contact the ITS Help Desk at (208) 885-HELP or helpdesk@uidaho.edu.
Q My password stopped working. How can I fix it?
A Go to http://support.uidaho.edu and reset the Novell/AD/Blackboard account, or contact the ITS Help Desk at (208) 885-HELP or helpdesk@uidaho.edu.


Reset Your Password

  • Go to http://support.uidaho.edu/
  • Login with your UI username (ex: Joe Vandal's username would be "vand1234").
  • Enter your account password to get access to support. You can also enter your pin number used in banner.

  • Select Change Passwords to change your account passwords.
  • Select the accounts that you want to update the password on.
  • Enter a new password twice. Make sure to read the rules about what passwords are acceptable on this page.
  • Then press the Set New Password button.

  • Make sure that you see a Success screen. If you don't go back and try again with a different password.
  • Once you're finished click Logout
  • At this point you can wait a few minutes and then try the new password in Blackboard

  • You will also receive a confirmation e-mail sent to your UI e-mail account confirming this password change.

Web Browser Support

Blackboard supports only full-featured browsers. Some Internet service providers provide their users with 'customized' versions of Internet Explorer (IE) or Netscape. These are not compatible with Blackboard.
