Once you've built a set of questions or assessments, you may find it
necessary to duplicate them, either within the same site, or
to a different Blackboard course site. This tutorial
covers the process of duplicating both questions and assessments. |

If you would like to duplicate a specific question(s) within a
single Blackboard site, follow these instructions:
- Under the Build Tab, go to Assessments
- Click Go to Question Database...

Click the
ActionLinks
icon next to the question you wish to duplicate

- Scroll down to the bottom of the question, press the
More Options heading
- Choose which category you'd like to
save your question to
- Press Save as New

- When you go back to the
Question Database, you will see a duplicate of your question in
the category that you specified.

If you would like to duplicate a specific assessment(s) within a single
Blackboard site, follow these instructions:
- Under the Build Tab, go to Assessments
- Click Create Assessment

Fill in the necessary information about the quiz, survey, or self-test.
- Scroll down to the bottom, under
Template, select Base on an Existing Assessment
- Select the pull down menu,
then the Assessment you want to copy
- Press Save

Copy Questions to another Blackboard
Course

If you want to copy questions—without the Assessments and their
settings—to another Blackboard site, you first need to export the questions
from a Blackboard course and then import them into another Blackboard course
by following these instructions:
Export Questions from a Blackboard Course
- Under the Build Tab, go to Assessments
- Click on Go to Question Database

- Check the box next to the questions you want to export
NOTE: if you want to export all of the
questions, click the box at the top of the list of questions.
- Press the Export Questions button

- Select My Files from the Browse for Location
dialog box
- Give the export file a name in the Save As
field
(ex: “exam1_questions”)
- Press Ok

Import Questions into Another Blackboard Course
- Select My UI at the top of the screen to access the
list of your existing Blackboard courses.
- Go into the course you want to copy the assessment to.
- Go to Manage Course
- Click on Import

- Select My Files
- Select the .zip file that was created in the
previous step
- Press OK

- Go to the Assessment tool
- Click on Question Database to see the
imported questions

If you would like to copy an entire Assessment (Settings and Questions)
to another Blackboard site, you first need to export the assessment from a
Blackboard course and then import it into another Blackboard course by
following these instructions:
Export the Assessment from a Blackboard Course
- Under the Build Tab, go to Assessments
- Check the box next to your Assessment(s)
NOTE: If you want to export all of the
assessments click the box at the top of the list of assessments.
- Press the Export button at the bottom

- Select My Files from the Browse for Location
dialog box
- Give the export file a name in the Save As
field
(ex: “exam01”)
- Press Ok

Import the Assessment into Another
Blackboard Course
- Select My UI at the top of the screen to access
your other Blackboard courses.
- Go into the course you want to copy the assessment into.
- Go to Manage Course
- Click on Import

- Select My Files
- Select the .zip file that was created in the
previous step
- Press OK

- Go to the Assessment tool to see the imported
assessments and questions
- Click the
ActionLinks
icon next to the assessment to set its availability
