Overview

This tutorial assumes you are using the Articulate Presenter product available in the CTI lab. (Note: CTI lab's version has been updated to work with Flash Player 10.) Articulate Presenter can also be purchased online.

CAUTION: Flash 10 Incompatibility Update

Known Issue:
Articulate presentations unable to load with Flash Player 10
If you have been publishing presentations using Articulate Presenter 5, they will no longer load when viewed with the new Flash Player 10 released 10/15/08. To fix this problem, download and use the Articulate Updater for Adobe Flash Player 10 to update the Articulate Presenter installation on your computer and fix each Articulate presentation file being distributed.

To run Articulate Updater for Flash Player 10:

1. Download the Articulate Updater for Adobe Flash Player 10 from:
http://www.articulate.com/downloads/full/presenter/flash10-updater/f10updater.exe

2. Install the Articulate Updater for Adobe Flash Player 10

3. Run the Articulate Updater for Adobe Flash Player 10

4. Re-run the Articulate Updater for Adobe Flash Player 10 again whenever you locate presentation files that still need the fix applied to them

Create the Presentation

1. Instructions for creating a presentation with PowerPoint are available by pressing the Launch the PowerPoint How-To button above.

2. Instructions for converting a presentation to Flash with Articulate are available by pressing the Launch the Articulate How-To button above.

Special Articulate Setup Instructions for compatibility with Bb Learning Modules

Our recommendation is to launch the resulting Articulate flash presentation into a new window because there are times when your students will need to be able to resize the presentation window. They will not have as much flexibility if you don't allow it to launch into a new window. Learning Modules in Bb do not allow you to launch a file into a new window, so we must implement a work around. Follow these steps BEFORE you press the Publish button to start converting your completed PowerPoint presentation into Flash.

In PowerPoint, go to the Articulate tab
Select Player Templates
From the Player Template Builder, click on Other
Check the 3 boxes in Browser Window Settings
- Launch presentation in a new window (creates launch page)
- Display window with no browser controls
- Allow user to resize browser

Upload the Presentation

Your presentation will consist of two folders, plus 1 or 2 files. All of these must be uploaded to the server in order to function correctly.

Drag & Drop the data folder, player folder, and player.html (and launcher.html if you have one) from your computer to your Blackboard site's WebDAV/Web Folder area. See the File Manager Tutorial for assistance.

You may use either a Learning Module or a Content Folders folder as a container to link to your presentation. Learning Modules can be sequentially organized, while the Content Folder is more flexible in terms of layout.

You will be linking to the player.html file
If you are using Learning Modules, and want to launch the presentation into a new window, you'll link to the launcher.html (see special instructions above)
